Iso-electric Focusing of Camel Milk Proteins
نویسنده
چکیده
Received 18 November 1997; accepted 27 June 1998) The procedure for phenotyping of most genetic variants in cow milk was optimised for iso-electric focusing (IEF) of camel milk proteins and milk from individual camels of different breeds was screened. The caseins obtained from IEF bands were also investigated by Nterminal sequencing. Camel milk casein was separated at different pH and the proteins in the whey obtained were then separated by IEF. Above pH 4.3 casein bands were observed in the whey. According to the pattern of protein bands in IEF, the 103 camels screened had one of the three main groups of milk designated aa, ab and, bb. A small number of camels differed from bb milk type by an extra band and this group was designated as bb. The high frequency of particular milk type in some breeds suggests that their production characteristics could be related to the phenotypes. © 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved

Anticancer activity of cow, sheep, goat, mare, donkey and camel milks and their caseins and whey proteins and in silico comparison of the caseins
The present investigation was carried out to evaluate anticancer activity of cow, goat, sheep, mare, donkey and camel milks and their casein and whey proteins against MCF7 cell line. The structure-based properties of the casein proteins were also investigated, using bioinformatics tools to find explanation for their antitumor activities. The effect of different milks and their casein and whey p...

In this research some properties of the casein micelles in the raw and pasteurized milk were studied by electron microscopy. SEM and TEM were used to evaluate the differences in acidified casein micelles of raw and pasteurized milk at the Iso Electric Point (pH=4.6). Milk samples were taken from research pilot plant of The College of Agriculture. Milk was pasteurized by the L.T.L.T. method in t...
متن کاملA comparative study of milk serum proteins in camel (Camelus dromedarius) and bovine colostrum
Camel (Camelus dromedarius) whey proteins were detected and compared to bovine whey proteins using size exclusion chromatography columns on HPLC. Camel whey proteins such as serum albumin and a-lactalbumin appear to possess molecular weights similar to the respective bovine whey proteins. Camel whey lacks b-lactoglobulin and consists of large amount of serum albumin, compared to bovine whey. Ca...

متن کاملDifferential Effects of Camel Milk on Insulin Receptor Signaling – Toward Understanding the Insulin-Like Properties of Camel Milk
Previous studies on the Arabian camel (Camelus dromedarius) showed beneficial effects of its milk reported in diverse models of human diseases, including a substantial hypoglycemic activity. However, the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in such effects remain completely unknown. In this study, we hypothesized that camel milk may act at the level of human insulin receptor (hIR) and its...
